Carter-ism

I wanted to write a few things down before I forget, which is to be sooner rather than later. i still have pregnancy brain...

when feeding Decker for the first time carter and my conversation went like this:
C: what are you doing?
Mom: feeding Decker
C: (laughing) no your not mom (also in a know it all voice)
Mom: yes, Decker drinks milk that mommy makes
C: Thats funny mom, why is there milk in your boobies?
Mom: because heavenly Father made it that way so i can take care of Decker so he grows big and strong.
C: (thinks a bit then laughs) heavenly Father is funny for putting milk in your boobies huh!
he asks all the time if he can see if I have milk... I'm trying to be private but the kid is so curious it funny.

Carter is also constantly asking to Hold "Decka" (we are working on his "ers") but they have to wash their hands before they can, so we are constantly hearing the sink then him run in, "can i hold decka now? I washed my hands" or "does hand santatiza count as washing my hands so i can hold him" or he wants to pat his hair, or hug him, or kiss his head, or touch him. Anything to get near him! this morning Decker was hungry but i wasn't quite ready to feed him so hes crying while carter is holding him. When I am ready to get him, he says, please don't take him, Its OK hes crying, the whispers "don't woowy Decka" over and over until he stops crying. I was a little nervous he'd be jealous, but i think he loves him too much to be jealous! Every outfit he asks "did i wear that when I was little like Decker?" yes, yes you did Carter.

Its About time...

Yeah, so my new years resolution to blog more has yet to happen and it is the middle of April! before i know it, it will be Christmas time seems to go by that fast! I mean honestly, i think last time I blogged I had 4 kids and now I have 5?? i Will back blog, I WILL! But for now, I will look to the here and now. Now I have 5 kids.
Meet Decker Shaun Condie! He made is Debut on Monday the 9th. He was one stubborn kid. He was scheduled to be induced on the 9th but we wanted him on the 8th, because 4/8/12 is cooler than 4/9/12 right? well... We went to the hospital that night after farming Carter an Ellie off at a friends, Jordan at a friends and Kailey at a neighbor friend. our plan was to say I think my water broke. they couldn't send me home with less than 24 hrs before my induction right? so in we go... they check my water and SURPRISE! it had broken. Shaun and I gave each other "what the heck?" look and pretended we new all along it was broken... I mean, duh! who doesn't know when their water breaks?? so by 9pm i had been admitted started on Pitocin, given my epidural and i was good to have a baby. we figured it wouldn't be more than a few hours seeing as my water had broken and I usually have babies fast after that happens. Boy was I wrong! Time seemed to drag. I never actually gave myself any epidural other than the 1 click they give you when they put it in. my right leg felt huge and numb but the rest of me wasn't. apparently after 5 epidurals you body puts up blockers if they always put it in the same spot. it was VERY annoying, almost as annoying as the anesthesiologist.... so I waited to give myself more until i actually felt some pain. I was 5cm and 7 hrs later i was a 6.... pushing 4am i'd watched some shows, Shaun finally gave in to sleeping and the contractions started hurting BAD. I have never really felt a contraction before, wow. I hope i never have to again! I felt like his shoulders were trying to break all my bones in order to escape my womb! Right around 4:15 I was talking to Shaun trying not to cry from pain, and pushing the epidural button like mad when Shaun fell asleep. The nurse had the anesthesiologist came back and gave me a straight shot into my IV to help the pain. this was all happening very fast and in the light with Shaun sleeping, it was actually pretty funny. They kept asking if I wanted to wake him, but I said no, thinking I had at least an hour or so. They checked me and i was ready, the Dr came in, the baby nurses in the got me ready to push and Shaun woke up just in time to stand by my side for the first of 3 pushes. Decker was here!
Now all other deliveries they wash the baby off, weigh them, wrap them up and hand them back to me while the dr finishes the labor part. Not this hospital. They hand me a gooey baby straight to my skin then wipe him off on my chest. It all happened so fast, and I wasn't going to be like " uh can you wash him first?" Anyway, he was here, the cord was around his neck but he was all good. he was 8 lbs 20 1/4 inches long and looked exactly like all my other babies. he had less hair but its dark and has an awesome part down the middle. he is going to love that as he grows up! haha. I stayed in the hospital for about a day and a half. They are big on "bonding" and gave me dirty looks when i asked them to take him to the nursery so I gave up asking. So far he is a very quiet sleeper so it was fine and he didnt wake up before 3 hrs. I wold have stayed that extra night had Shaun not looked about ready to be done parenting all together and asking me to come home, and the kids were SO excited to have him home. If only I had come home to a clean house the transition would have been a walk in the park... more on that another day... Welcome to the Family Decks, or Dex, or Decker (we call him Decks, but I'm not sure how to spell that in the shortened form?) Naming him will also be a different post.

Chilling with Dad

Decker is the lucky child who is on his own bedtime. While the other 4 kids are asleep by 7, he is up at 11 with mom and dad!

Naming Decker Shaun Condie

Naming him was harder than we thought. We pretty much ignored the topic for 9 months and about 2 days before he was born tried to come up with a few names. I kinda thought Dylan, because we had bought a sippy cup on sale with the name on it, why not right? then he was born, we named him Coleman for about a day. the next morning we both decided that wasnt his name so we voted. We had six names up: Coleman, Dylan, Bentley, Decker, Cooper, and I already forgot. then we all picked our favorite three and vetoed 1. all of us picked Decker in out top 3 except Kailey vetoed it... dilemma.. even Ellie said "deck" so she cried, and cried and said "it wasn't fair and that was the ONLY name she DIDN'T like" poor her! we may have a bit of drama heading our way. So we told her to hold him, try not be biased and call him each name on the board. When she angrily called him Decker he stirred and all the kids said "HE MOVED!" and Kailey gave in "FINE, i guess that's his name" and it was settled. I was planning on giving him my dad's middle name, i figured carter had shaun's dads middle name (Glenn), the girls had a family member. but sorry Dad, J didn't make the cut. we were so close, but then Jacob got all huffy, "I'm naming my baby J, you Can't" followed by some mood swing, (I wonder where kailey gets it!) We almost did it anyway, but figured why not name him after his dad, Shaun... we almost did it sean just to spice it up a little, but then that would just defeat the purpose of naming it after him? So after a few temper tantrums, a name change and the hospital making us put it in gold before we could leave the hospital, honestly, they wouldn't let us leave without a name, and they said if we changed it, it would cost and probably screw up our medical benefits? he got his name, and it seems to fit, other than we sometimes call him Dexter...(that's not his name, but we do call him Decks, or Dex)
When Shaun put Decker out there the first time, we googled it, its not even a real name, he just kinda made it up so i said no, but we can pretend he is going to be big into tools one day and got his name from Black and Decker? my brother in-law had a good one saying we could find him at Lowes or Home Depot. good one Andy, if that was the worst people can think of to make fun of his name, we'll take it, but i'm sure kids can think of a bit meaner...
